On your nightstand:
Rachel Held Evans’ Searching for Sunday: Loving, Leaving, and Finding the Church is every bit as good as my friend Amy said it was. I also just finished Eleanor and Park. If you’re into Y/A, this one’s a gem.
If you could spend a day with an author, who would it be?
Barbara Kingsolver. We’d take a long walk in the woods, hopefully see some birds/maybe a rat snake or a garter, and make a leisurely dinner together from locally-grown veggies. Sigh.
What book made the biggest impression on you as a kid?
I absolutely love the Emily books by Lucy Maud Montgomery. All the natural beauty of the Anne books, but with magic. They continue to inspire me.
