Pat Hannon

Pat Hannon – Version 2Pat Hannon is a priest in the Congregation of Holy Cross, a Catholic religious order. He teaches writing at the University of Portland and is the author of four collections of essays. His most recent, Sacrament: Personal Encounters with Memories, Wounds, Dreams, and Unruly Hearts, came out in 2014. When he’s not teaching or writing or doing one of his priestly duties, he is probably sitting quietly in the corner of some brewpub sipping a pint and reading. Or he’s spending time with one of his nine siblings or forty-six nieces and nephews or twenty-eight cousins.

On your nightstand:

Too many to count! But here’s a smattering: Wulf’s The Invention of Nature: Alexander Von Humboldt’s New World; Hart’s Act One; and Beard’s SPQR:A History of Ancient Rome.

Do you prefer reading print or ebooks?

Evenly split. I love the thought of carrying in my hand a hundred books wherever I go.

If you could spend a day with an author, who would it be?

Flannery O’Conner.
